Eigo Sato, owner of Shiga Kogen Beer in Nagano, has an amazing and heartfelt offer to those affected by the Coronavirus. He has decided to offer 10,000 bottles of the company’s popular IPA for free!
The aim is to provide support to those hit the hardest in this crisis, such as restaurant staff, those in the tourism business, hotel employees, entertainers, and people doing their best to take care of their children at home. Also–and maybe most importantly–are those at the forefront fighting the virus: nurses, doctors, caregivers, as well as supermarket employees and workers delivering necessary products to keep things moving while keeping us safe.
You don’t need to prove you are in one of these fields. It is on the honor system. The company’s standpoint is that if you feel you are one in need, don’t hesitate to order. Shiga Kogen leaves it up to you to choose the quantity of beers as well. Their only request is that you comment in the remarks area when you place your order. Sato’s message is, “Though I can’t offer direct financial support, it is my hope that people who enjoy beer will get some comfort from this.” He also hopes any that receive the gift will take the opportunity to learn more about craft beer.
The IPA will be available only via the company’s webshop starting at noon today (4/21). There is a maximum of twelve per person and all that the company asks is that you cover the shipping cost (¥1200, tax included; slightly extra for Hokkaido and Okinawa).
