Your covers are sexist.
We’ve heard similar complaints. Some people don’t seem to like that we usually feature women on the cover. The thing is, men like attractive women. Women like attractive women.
OK, to be more serious, six of our seven covers have featured attractive women. Conversely, we could have featured old, fat, balding men but then we would have been reinforcing a stereotype that beer drinkers are old, fat, balding men. Young women are a quickly growing demographic among craft beer drinkers and we’d like to support that and show on our covers that women and craft beer are not an unusual combination. All the women we’ve ever featured on our covers are craft beer drinkers, not just some random models. Aya, on this month’s cover, actually attended the beer festivals in Toyama, Osaka and Nagoya!
As for the yukata she’s wearing (and the ones last summer’s models were wearing), it’s a traditional summer festival outfit. What should she wear instead? A suit?
Hey… now that’s a good idea…. Are there any smoking hot, voluptuous models out there who love craft beer and want to wear a really tight suit with no shirt, bra or panties on underneath for our next cover?
Do you know any good hangover cures?
Vigorous intercourse with smoking hot, voluptuous models.
Your covers are cool, but why not full color sometimes?
We do B&W covers with the beer in color because the color is one of the first things you appreciate when drinking a good craft beer (likewise, the cover is the first thing you appreciate about our magazine). What are the beer’s hues? Is it clear, cloudy or opaque? The color gives you many clues about a beer’s style and taste.
